A Broadway Adaptation of NBC’s Smash in the Works

Solomon Morris Davis is the manager of yacht charter company, Carver Pacific, LLC, headquartered in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, and leads two other California-based firms. As a Universal Life Church ordained minister, he conducts wedding ceremonies. Solomon Morris Davis’ varied interests include boating, traveling, exercising, and Broadway theatre.

It was announced in the second quarter of 2020 that a musical adaptation of the NBC TV series Smash is underway and destined for Broadway. Aired in 2012 and running for two seasons, Smash was about staging a Broadway musical revolving around Marilyn Monroe’s life. Some characters in the TV series will still be fundamental to the storyline, but the new musical’s plot will reportedly veer from the original.

Providing the score for the planned “Smash, A New Musical” is the Grammy and Tony award-winning tandem of Scott Wittman and March Shaiman, who also wrote more than two dozen original songs for the TV series. Many of these original songs in the TV show will also appear in the play. The powerhouse production team includes “Chicago” producer Neil Meron, chairman of WarnerMedia Entertainment Robert Greenblatt, and Steven Spielberg.

What Is the Universal Life Church?

Solomon Morris Davis is a real estate investor and manager. As CEO of real estate company Somoda Management Inc. and managing partner at Solton Properties, he has more than 15 years’ experience in the real estate and property industries. A resident of Los Angeles, Solomon Morris Davis is also an ordained minister of the Universal Life Church.

The Universal Life Church (ULC) is a religious organization that embraces people from all walks of life, regardless of their race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic. Non-denominational, the ULC actively encourages its members to be ordained as ministers, asking that they uphold just two lay principles; to do only that which is right, and to recognize that every individual has the right to practice their religion as they see fit, as long as they do not harm others or break the law.

The ULC does not subscribe to a belief in any particular deity, instead considering all belief systems to be of equal value. In fact, the ULC hopes that over time, the different religions of the world will merge to create one universal faith.
